poppies and coneflowers that grow around Art in Motion. We’ll explore the meadow together,

take photos with phone cameras, and then head indoors for a few quick demonstrations and time

to create.

Colored pencils, pens, and some watercolor paints and watercolor pencils will be available,

although you are welcome to bring your own supplies. Come a little early if you’d like to order

drinks or dinner from the BoHo Café before during the class.

Steven Solkela’s 23 Piece Band

From a childhood farm on Minnesota’s Iron Range steeped in Finish roots and SISU work ethic to stages around the world, Steven Solkela is a one-of-a-kind artist who appeals to a fanbase young and old through his versatile performances, eclectic studio recordings, and vast online presence. Whether performing solo gentle Finish ballads on an accordion, boisterous and complex arrangements as the sole member of his renowned 23-piece “Overpopulated” one-man-band, or any of his various side projects, Solkela is a once in a generation talent. Mix in comedy and a variety of stunts on the unicycle, skateboard or stilts, and his performances are sure to “wow” audiences of all ages, geographies and backgrounds. On Saturday, August 8th, cyclists and community members will gather on the scenic Lake Wobegon

Trail in Holdingford, MN, for Pedal for Pollinators — a community event supporting the plant-
ing of high-quality pollinator habitat in Minnesota and throughout the country. The ride begins
and ends at Art in Motion, a Bee & Butterfly Habitat Fund (BBHF) habitat site demonstrating how
thoughtfully designed landscapes serve both people and pollinators. Participants may choose
21, 32, or 56 miles with a caramel roll breakfast, a post-ride gathering, and a silent auction. Every
rider, donor, sponsor, and bidder helps establish habitat where it is urgently needed.

SCS has played renowned venues like Bent Paddle, Earth Rider, Broken Clock, Gunflint Tavern, and Mankato Brewery while making waves at major events. In 2024, they headlined Bluegrass on the Black Festival and SquidFest and played the MN Musician Showcase at Mall of America. In 2025, they’ll hit Rhythm of the River Bluegrass Festival and River Falls Bluegrass, Bourbon & Brews Festival, expanding their reach into WI, IA, ND, and SD. They also recently opened for Mooncats, a nationally touring bluegrass band from ND. Beyond festivals, SCS plays private events and weddings, with many already booked for 2025. Their upcoming EP, "Harbors & Highways", recorded at Library Recording Studio in Minneapolis, drops in Summer 2025, with their first single, “Feed My Fire,” releasing soon.
