Outdoor Painters of Minnesota and Art in Motion are partnering to bring a plein air paint out to Holdingford.

From 9 am-12 pm: plein air workshop with Dan Mondloch,
12-1 pm, Lunch at Boho Cafe
1-4 pm paint out on the Lake Wobegon trail and around Art in Motion
Cost for the workshop can be paid to Outdoor Painters on Minnesota
Camping at Art in Motion the night before needs to be indicated in the registration form for the workshop.
This registration covers attendance to the Bluedog Blues performance from 7-9 pm.
Check-in on June 4th is from 4-8 pm. Check out by 5:00 June 5th.
Camp sites are not equipped with power, water, or fire rings. Art in Motion facility has a shower, potable water, toilets, electric, and wifi.
There will be a community fire the night of the camp out at the Bluedog Blues performance.
About the Demonstrating Painter
Dan Mondloch is an award-winning plein air and studio watercolor and oil painter from the greater St Cloud area. He teaches popular classes and workshops to all levels of artists, from K-12 residencies to beginners to advanced watercolor technique.
Dan will demo his plein air technique in watercolor, but will teach principles that apply across media.

After the workshop, we'll have lunch in Boho Cafe on site, then head out to paint along the Lake Wobegon Trail. This is an excellent opportunity to bring your bike (and trailer if you have one) to explore the scenic paved trail.

What to Bring:
Paint Kit:
building an outdoor painting kit is a person experience as painters design their kit to suit their prefrence and style of painting. They can be elaborate, simple, manufactured, or DIY. Bring what you want to paint with. However if you are looking for somewhere to start you will need:
a variety of paint colors
The primary mixing colors are all you really need, or a strategic pallet of landscape colors, or go abstract with the colors that speak to you)
You can paint with any type of paint: watercolor, oils, acrylic, tempura, etc.
assortment of brushes or just your favorite one
painting surfaces
paper, canvas, canvas board, panel, etc.
an easel or structure to paint on (a clipboard can work just fine)
paper towels or a rag
water or solvents and a container to hold it and to rinse brushes in
pencil, or drawing tool
paint pallet
some artists like a piece of glass. Others like pallet paper or freezer paper, or a specifically designed pallet
A trash bag: Leave no trace to dispose of your waste
Check out the internet for ideas on outdoor painting set-ups. They can be simple or complex!
PPE and comfort
This is an all day rain or shine event. Prepare for the weather by wearing appropriate clothing, sunscreen, and bug repellent. Consider an umbrella for rain or sun. The demonstration will take place on location, consider bringing a lawn chair to sit on.
